Description
Between 1958 and 1960 there were some interesting things going on in the world of crime, courts and justice. An American was tried for murder in a British court – and sent home to serve his time in a US prison; a Pole was hanged for a murder committed during a drunken nightmare – and an American, a little later, was acquitted for doing virtually the same thing – while a home-grown Scotsman who committed a brutal murder during the course of a robbery was sentenced to death, reprieved to a life sentence instead – and went on to kill again. While the logic and even-handedness of the law is open to question, one thing is for sure – this issue has got to be one of the most thought-provoking yet!
