Jade Janks had a good relationship with her frail stepdad Thomas Merriman – or so it seemed. But a shocking discovery she made on his home computer made her think again and question the time they had spent together over the years…
Jade texted friend Mike Liebhand: “I still struggle with moral issues. Yet I will not spend my life looking over my shoulder, so I’m making the call.”
She then texted another friend. “I have given this a lot of thought. I have an easy solution.” He refused her plea to come over.
Jade then texted to tell him what she’d done. “I just dosed the hell out of him. He’s super-medicated but he just came round. He’s going to get aggressive. I’m about ready to club him. I can’t keep a kicking body in my truck.”
Then later that evening, she begged a third friend, Adam Siplyak, to come over and help. When he got there, she apparently admitted what she’d done. “I killed him,” she said. “I drugged him. I suffocated him with a bag and choked him.”
She asked him to help move the body, but he refused, saying he didn’t want to get involved.
And then he did get involved – because he was the one who called the police and told them what Jade Janks had just said.
Unaware of what Siplyak had done, Jade again messaged him, saying “I really need to clear the trash in the driveway…”
