Classified by psychologists as a psychopath, serial sex offender Stefan Svitek raped and murdered his two little daughters and his pregnant wife. He became the last person executed in Slovakia when he was hanged on Thursday, June 8th, 1989, in Bratislava Prison.

Capital punishment was abolished the following year in Slovakia when the country was still part of the Communist empire, and it was not restored after Slovakia’s separation from the Czech Republic in 1993.
