Celebrated as a singer on the cabaret circuit in Singapore, Mimi Sim, 34, became notorious on Friday, July 27th, 1973, as the first woman to be hanged in the country. She and her husband, Woh Sim, were sentenced to death in December 1970 for the murder of a Japanese woman. After all the appeals were exhausted, including one to the Privy Council in London, Mimi went to the gallows at Changi Prison.
