A 15-year-old South Yardley, Birmingham, boy who went out on his blue racing bike on Saturday, September 1st, 1984, was found hanging from a tree nine weeks later in woodland, seven miles from his home, near the citys airport.
An open verdict was recorded on Mark Billington which didnt rule out suicide. But in 2002 the case was re-opened as a murder inquiry.
A juryman from the 1984 inquest said, At the back of my mind it was always pointing to murder, but we just couldnt prove it. Police now want to speak to a group of boys who were talking to Mark outside a building society office on the day he went missing.
