An iron bar was Peter Hynes’s murder weapon. On JANUARY 15th, 1922, this 40-year-old native of Drogheda wielded the bar to batter to death Thomas Grimstone, a former soldier in the British Army found dead near Drogheda.

Hynes’s come-uppance followed exactly 11 months later when he was hanged by Thomas Pierrepoint in Dublin on December 15th.
