The 16-year-old brother of Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper, became a murder suspect after Frederick Craven, a 55-year-old bookmaker, was found beaten to death in his shop at Bingley, Yorkshire, on APRIL 22nd, 1966.

The murder had been committed in the course of a robbery, and the boy was arrested because his blue denim cap had been seen in the area at the time of the killing. Released two days later without charge, he had been in the vicinity collecting fish and chips for men at the factory where he was an apprentice.

Frederick Craven’s murder remains unsolved.
