Description

This month sees the start of a new series of murder cases from Ireland, and in part 1 we take you back to August 1976 when two Englishmen arrived in Dublin with their tents and sleeping-bags just like thousands of back-packers every year. But these two men from Wigan and Manchester were no ordinary tourists. Their journey would take them far beyond the boundaries of acceptable human behaviour to commit the most shocking crimes imaginable. For they were two psychopaths on the run who had come to rape, torture and kill.

The Canadian village of Killaloe in the Ottawa Valley had only 700 residents, but within a few years two of them had been found dead and another faced two first-degree murder charges. One wag suggested that the town should be renamed Killalot. However, it does seem that antifreeze is rapidly becoming the preferred choice of murder weapon, among lady-killers anyway.
