Description

Welcome to a bumper issue of True Detective, with 12 complete stories PLUS regulars such as Execution USA and The World¹s Worst Killers!

Joel Rifkin came up with an intriguing reason why he murdered 17 prostitutes in the space of four years. "I didn’t hate women," he explained. "I hated the need to visit prostitutes, the compulsion to buy sex. I was like a drug addict chasing a high. I chased it to the point of self-destruction. It was destroying me, so I tried to destroy it. "I was addicted to prostitutes. I hated having to rely on them, so I killed them…" Rifkin richly deserves his place in our America¹s Most Evil series.

In the spring of 1956 Dominique Thirel, 19, an aspiring movie star, or at least a model, set out for Paris, treading in the footsteps of thousands of other girls just like her. She made for Pigalle, then a seedy red-light district where there were boyfriends a-plenty but there was a real shortage of the sort of glamorous work Dominique aspired to. Right from the start, despite all her assets, she found the going tough. Although she would never have admitted it, she had joined the capital’s sink netherworld, where undesirables mixed rip-off sex with pimping and petty crime along the sex-charged boulevard, a place that only came alive after dark. Soon she would fall into the clutches of a monster and die an agonising death in the forest of Fontainebleau…the second part of our exciting new series Grisly Tales Of The Guillotine.

Also of note in this issue: not one but two cases, separated by more than 50 years, that saw a jilted woman go gunning literally for her rival.
