Description

The man chuckled and had a celebratory drink when he was found not guilty of battering a young mother to death with a stone in a country lane. He laughed because he knew the truth was that he did kill her. And when she was dead he dumped her body by a railway embankment to make it seem that she had been struck by a passing train. As the years rolled by, the man was confident in the belief that he had got away with murder. But in December 2010, some 15 years after the crime, he had the shock of his life. He was re-arrested in a dawn raid on his home and brought back to court – only this time there would be no celebratory drink. Read Double Jeopardy Justice, and a truly amazing case from Oxfordshire.

Richard Cox’s funeral would proceed, of course, but not until two doctors carried out a post-mortem, removed a number of internal organs and sent them to an analyst in Dublin in a sealed bucked of preservative.

Part 4 of Murder At the Pub tells the tale of Amy Davis and her backstreet pub the Ring o’ Bells, which had weathered all the bombs the Luftwaffe could drop on Coventry during World War Two. By the time her 68th birthday rolled round she hoped it would mark a new era. It didn’t…
