Description

A new year offers the perfect chance to start a diary. And for True Detective it’s no different. Which is why you’ll see in this, our first edition of 2015, a great new series to keep you enthralled and entertained over the coming 12 months.

In TD’s Diary Of Murder, we have gathered together in words and pictures some of the world’s most fascinating cases. Some are well-known – Thompson and Bywaters, Donald Neilson, The Black Dahlia – others less so. All of the cases have a link to the month of January. All are well worth your attention. Don’t miss it!

Ever wondered what it would be like to spend time with a condemned prisoner? Now’s your chance to find out. Final Hours In The Condemned Cell, is a prison officer’s inside story. Robert Douglas spent six weeks in Bristol Prison in 1963 as a companion for condemned 23-year-old murderer Russell Pascoe. Pascoe’s hanging proved to be the penultimate execution carried out by Harry Allen. As Robert Douglas’s account mentions, anti-capital punishment campaigners protested outside Bristol Prison before the execution. And just nine months later, on August 13th, 1964, the last judicial hangings in Britain were carried out. A truly fascinating read. Enjoy the read – and let us know what you think!
