Description

The Yorkshire town of Holmfirth became famous for the hit TV comedy series Last Of The Summer Wine, but the laughter gave way to tragedy and revulsion in February 2011 when a young woman’s body was found stuffed into a suitcase in the basement garage of a town house.

There was no doubt that 25-year-old Patrick Doherty was dead. He had been shot four times, including twice in the head and once through the heart. Furthermore, his skull had been shattered and one of his eyes was missing. Yet his corpse still managed to raise an arm! Intrigued? This is the amazing case from turn-of-the- century County Leitrim – it’s part one of the incredible new series Last Executions In Ireland.

Twice in a few short months serial killer Ronald Gene Simmons was sentenced to death – for 16 murders. But while on Arkansas’ Death Row he was a seen as a pariah, an outcast who had to be constantly kept apart from the other prisoners who threatened his life. Why? Because Simmons refused to appeal his sentences and even claimed that “anything short of death would be a cruel and unusual punishment.” This history-making case is part 25 in the series America’s Most Evil.

Lincolnshire farmworker Frank Fowler seldom smiled and never had much to say, so he would never be the life and soul of a party. But he had his moments. The first astonished all who knew him while the second shocked the whole country. Three Weddings And A Shooting – it’s the 12th – and conclusion to the present series – Murder At The Pub.
