It is not often that we discuss readers’ letters in our editorial, but since we had so many about the Hanratty case it would seem unfair not say that every single person who wrote in expressed the belief that Hanratty was likely to have been innocent of the A6 murder for which he was hanged and that the evidence should be reviewed and subjected to DNA testing. So if there are any Home Office personnel reading this, please take note. People have strong feelings about the fairness of our courts – and unfortunately, less and less faith.
Particularly recommended this month are our two stories dealing with cults, we have the Incredible Prelude to the Sharon Tate Massacre, and the way the charistmatic Charles Manson rallied his Family of adherents into the torture murder of Gary Hinman. It happened 25 years ago – and Manson is still trying to win his parole.
