Description

Just over a hundred years ago, Mary Pearcey was hanged. She murdered the wife and baby of the man she loved in order that he might live his life without these obstacles to his happiness – but did he thank her? Not at all. He couldn’t even be bothered to visit her in the death cell – but he did strike a bargain selling off some of her effects to Madame Taussauds! It is a story steeped in mystery – did Mrs. Pearcey invent a hinted-at-accomplice simply to keep the world guessing (or possibly as a face-saver), was the the murder a spur-of-the-moment burst of uncontrollable anger which gave her the strength of many? One thing is certain about this story – Frank Hogg did not deserve the total love and tust she invested in him.

Conscience is a strange thing. A marine who killed his lover’s husband because she begged and pleaded with him to do it ended up putting them both in prison – because he couldn’t live with the knowledge of his own evil deed.
