Description
How many murders would be prevented if it were possible to get protection from a stalker? But it seems that no matter how predictable such an event might be, nothing can be done under the law. The kind of mental instability that leads to stalking behaviour, as the world now knows, often accompanies violence, and the stalker very often does not care whether he is caught or not. Often he welcomes being caught as an opportunity to vent his imaginary grievance even more.
Our first story deals with the case of a farm hand who was shown some kindness by the young woman who was to be his victim. It was a mistake, for the man was unable to accept attention without expecting a complete, lifelong commitment from her as well. And since that was not forthcoming, he killed her..
It is not a unique situation, but it is one which should concern us all.
