In November 1990, 13-year-old Crystal "Crickette" Surrell was murdered on her way to school. Fourteen years passed. Then in June 2004 two men were brought to trial for Crystal’s murder following an anonymous tip. Neither of the defendants testified. The dog in his sights, said the 78-year-old retired Melbourne lorry driver, had a baby in its jaws – tiny Azaria Chamberlain.
