Description

Should there be a limit on the number of years a case can lie cold before a prosecution is brought? Or should the perpetrator always know that, even if they think they’ve got away with a crime, there’s always a chance that justice will eventually catch up with them? In the extraordinary case of Carolyn Krizan-Wilson, such questions were being asked in Texas as a 1985 killing finally reached the courtroom.

Infanticide is nothing new, as our chronicle of the 16 women who were sentenced to death in England in the last century, only to be later reprieved, grimly demonstrates. All the cases were headline news at the time and, despite the passing years, the crimes remain shocking today.
