Description

Our first two cases deal with North Wales – and cinemas – although there is no further similarity. In the first story a repressed homosexual who lived with his mother discovered that he had time on his hands once she had died. Killing men for him was merely an amusing pastime…

In the scond case a woman was murdered shortly after her husband met her outside a cinema – after the film. Who knows what they quarrelled about, but their circumstances left plenty to be desired. Although married, and with children, they each lived with their own parents; victims it seemed of homelessness. These domestic arrangements, while hardly ideal, must have suited Harris well enough, for he had savings…The £50 he had when he died could have rented them quite a respectable house together.

Included in this month are two unlikely killers from the better-off end of British society. There were two murder trials but with predictable results. In those days money and influence made rather a difference when it came to serious crime.
