Description

Highlights inside this issue:

A young lad made the discovery. At 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 24th, 1955, he was blackberrying with some of his friends in the Fender Valley near his Birkenhead home when he looked into an old army pillbox. What he saw sent him scurrying home. During the course of the following investigation the police checked about 40,000 men, took more than 1,000 written statements and visited some 14,000 homes. But the case remains unsolved to this day. Can you help solve a murder?

In 1989 Arthur Shawcross was given a 250-year term for his latest series of crimes, although he had no chance of serving that sentence, of course. Indeed, on November 12th, 2008, he suffered a massive heart attack and died. He was 63. What did the innocent-looking “Art” do to receive such a lengthy sentence? Read the full story in this issue.
