A local chieftain of the Ondo region of Nigeria, Samuel Adeniran, and a witch doctor known as Faleye, were hanged on Thursday, October 6th, 1949, in Lagos Prison for their part in the ritual killing of a 15-month-old child. The man who brought the child to the witch doctor, Gabriel Labinjoh, was hanged at the same time.

When police found the child’s body, it had been horribly mutilated.
