Every time Giovanni Fossatti and Peter Robustelli met in a pub there was a fight. The two men used fists and knives on each other so often that their reputation for mutual violence had spread across Western Australia.

Their last meeting was in Coolgardie in October, 1909. At sight of his old enemy Robustelli snarled: “I’ll knock your head off!” He seized hold of an iron bar with which Fossatti had armed himself and delivered it with such a swing that, to the astonishment of the pub drinkers, it did in fact take off Fossatti’s head.

For that, Robustelli was hanged in Fremantle Prison on Wednesday, February 9th, 1910.
