A Serbian peasant, his daughter and an old man were trudging along a road on their way to market to buy sheep in May 1933, when they were set upon by two robbers. The peasant was killed and robbed of 1,500 dinar, and the old man was severely injured, but the girl fled. She was able to identify the attackers, Paul Simonovic and Dragutin Rajic-Stefanovic, to the police.

They denied their guilt until the very last moment when, on the scaffold on Friday, August 3rd, 1934, they asked for forgiveness.
