A row in a caf? in Ensign Street, Stepney, East London, on Sunday, October 8th, 1961, resulted in the stabbing of Noel Morgan, 28, one of a group of seamen disputing the bill with the Somali waiter. Six weeks later the waiter, Hassan Adan, 59, was acquitted of the murder at the Old Bailey after the jury stopped the trial. Later an inquest recorded the crime as unsolved.
