There were probably three people present in his house in Banks, near Southport, Lancashire, on Saturday, December 20th, 1986, the night Nigel Bostock died. One of them may have seen the man who strangled and stabbed Mr. Bostock, 31, and stole about £700. Also missing: a Bulova Accutron Spaceview watch, which has never been traced.

The victim, a shoe shop owner, was gay, and police appealed to members of the gay community for help. The murder inquiry was re-opened in October, 2003, as a result of advances in DNA technology, but this has so far drawn a blank.
