A wad of banknotes flashed in a pub early in the evening of Saturday, August 17th, 1946, may have led to the murder of Leonard Warrens, 46, who was shot dead while driving home to Chartfield Avenue, Putney, later that night.

Mr. Warrens, believed to have been gay, was seen in the pub in the company of three young soldiers, and when he flashed his bankroll his fate may have been sealed.
