An unknown taxi-driver from Prescot in Lancashire is chief suspect in the murder of Julie Finney, 23, found strangled in a carrot field near the Rainford by-pass near St. Helens. Julie, known to hang out with prostitutes in the Liverpool area, was last seen alive just before midnight on Saturday, August 6th, 1994, in Liverpool city centre. Her naked body was found next morning by a cyclist.

Detectives were baffled by the murder and said that what happened to Julie was unclear. The best lead came from a woman calling herself “Tina” who phoned police to say Julie told her she planned to meet a taxi driver from Prescot on the night she died.
