A huge manhunt followed the discovery of the body of 12-year-old Ivy Lewis in Darkan, Western Australia, on February 28th, 1928. She had been raped and shot to death with a shotgun blast and her body had been partially buried out in the bush.

It was “found” by John Milner, a local farm labourer, who turned out to be the man who killed her. He was sentenced to death in April and hanged in Fremantle Prison on Monday, May 21st, 1928.
