The case book of unsolved murders is full of prostitute and taxi driver victims where the killer

hasn’t yet been found. One such cabby was John Armstrong, 58, who picked up a fare at the Fairwater pub in Cardiff on Friday, October 5th, 1979, at 1.30 p.m. The killer beat him at least three times with a heavy hammer and stole his takings of £20.

The killer then dumped the body in the dense wood of Cowbridge Common and drove off in the taxi to Bridgend. At this point he was seen by a man who was searching for a cab, but the witness was unable to identify him. The bloodstained taxi was later found abandoned on an industrial estate at Bridgend.
