When the body of 69-year-old Alexander Walsh was found in the back garden of his bungalow in Clare Road, Taplow, near Slough, Buckinghamshire, on JANUARY 6th, 1978, his nephew Alexander Norman Jones, 20, was charged with murder. Mr. Walsh had been bound and had died from severe head injuries.

Claiming he had acted in self-defence, Jones denied murder. He said there had been a row over his girlfriend. At Reading Crown Court on May 5th, 1978, he was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment by Mr Justice Milmo.
