Who was the mystery man from Wolverhampton who captivated 30-year-old Mrs. Bertha Frazer? He was about 30 to 40 years old, and was, or had been, in the army. In July, 1919, Mrs. Frazer was so anxious to re-establish contact with him that she moved from her home, her husband and her job in north-east England to Wolverhampton.

Less than a month later, on Saturday, August 2nd, she was found dead in the room she rented in Clifton Street. Her throat was cut and a trail of blood from her body led into the street.

One other noteworthy point: Mrs. Frazer was believed to have started up as a prostitute when she came to Wolverhampton. So was it the mystery lover who killed her, or a client?
