Two Italian bush workers so disliked each other that it came to a point where one of them, Antonio Fanto, refused to work with the other, Cosimo Nesci. Even then their mutual hatred smouldered. Finally, in March 1931, Fanto stretched a wire across a road where he knew Nesci would be cycling, and when his enemy was brought down by the trap he shot and killed him.

Fanto was hanged at Fremantle Prison on Monday, May 18th, 1931.
