Taxi drivers all over the world are especially vulnerable to thieves, as was Siewdath Ramkissoon, who in August 1992 was attacked and beaten to death by two customers. Anthony Briggs, 25, and Wenceslaus James hired the cabby to take them to a town in central Trinidad. On the way they asked him to stop on a deserted road and smashed his skull with a hammer so they could rob him.

Briggs was hanged for the murder on Wednesday, July 28th, 1999 – to date the last execution in the country. His accomplice’s death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment.
