Drug dealer Ahmet Abdullah, known as Turkish Abbi, quarrelled with powerful south-east London interests and was shot and wounded in the William Hill betting shop in Bagshot Street, Walworth, on Monday, March 11th, 1991. Pleading with his attackers not to kill him, he tried to use another customer as a shield before escaping into the street, where he was shot dead.

Two brothers stood trial at the Old Bailey for his murder, in a case where witnesses gave evidence from behind screens and were identified only by numbers, but both were acquitted. The police said the inquiry was closed. UK Murder Stories from True Crime Library.
