Master Detective
March 2010 (MDMAR2010)

£3.00

Master Detective is 60 years old this month! March 1950 saw the first editions of both this magazine and True Detective on sale in British newsagents. It’s an excuse for a little nostalgia and it’s an opportunity for one lucky reader to claim a £500 reward. But most of all it’s business as usual – another month’s worth of the world’s very best true crime stories.

Case in point: the latest story in our “Last Executions” series. This one focuses on the last man hanged at Exeter Prison and raises significant doubts as to whether the hanged man really was guilty. Read A Killing On Christmas Eve, decide for yourself – and let us know your verdict by writing to MD Viewpoint.

The shadow of the gallows dominates another remarkable story in this issue: “As she slumped to the ground he ripped open her blouse, tore her bra away and continued stabbing. ‘I hate you! I love you! I want to die!’ And with that he slashed Sybil’s throat.” That it was murder there was no doubt. But would they hang a man with no legs?

By the way, MD carries on celebrating next month with a special free pull-out section. Don’t miss it!
Meanwhile, here’s to the next 60 years!
Enjoy the read!

WOULD THEY HANG A MAN WITH NO LEGS?
