Kazuo Sagawa and Terou Ono – Japan

Executions in Japan are carried out in secret, and the world only hears about them after they have taken place. On Friday, December 17th, 1999, Kazuo Sagawa, 48, was hanged at Tokyo Central Prison, and on the same day Terou Ono, 62, was hanged at Fukuoka Prison.
Sagawa was sentenced to death 17 years earlier, in March 1982, for the robbery and murder of two people in 1981. Ono was condemned to death in September 1978 – 21 years before he was finally hanged – for the robbery and murder of a woman.
In the 20th century there were more than 1,900 executions under the ordinary criminal law in Japan, and executions have continued into the 21st century. Worldwide Hangings from True Crime Library.
